So I’m writing this on only 3hrs of sleep.. so expect it to wacked, weird and all sorts of other thing

Okay.. The day is Friday the 28th of September 2007 – The mission is going to Hamburg to see Rooney… and to get my friend Anette into them as well.
It all started in the morning, but I’ll spare you the details of all the thing I had to do before leaving.
We left Odense around 3pm. Driving, singing, talking – doing weird stuff.

We drove and drove and drove some more. Okay, not really. About 2½ hrs after leaving we were almost outside Hamburg. Then there was “Stau” (German word – we kinda found it funny to say) – aka. we hit traffic. So the last short part of the way took us about an hour
Anyway. We got to Hamburg around 6.30pm or maybe a bit later. Apparently took a wrong turn (but we didn’t know that until later). Parked the car near Reeperbahn (the street where most of the clubs were.. but of course not Knust where Rooney was playing). We then proceeded to Subway to get some dinner. All I can say is “crappy food, crappy service”. Reeperbahn is a quite “interesting” street, with a bunch of sex shops, casinos and clubs.

After we finished eating we tried to figure out where the heck Rooney was playing. We couldn’t find it. Eventually we figure out where we were, and since we had a map, found out what way to go. It turned out that Knust Klub was about 1.2 miles away (about 1,5km). Well, we got there just as this band called Cleo Can Dive finished their set. That was a shame, they actually sounded pretty good.
We bought a beer and discussed whether or not to go see Grand Avenue. They were playing in a different club down near our car. I was kinda reluctant, cause I didn’t wanna miss Rooney. We agreed to listen to what kind of music the next band was playing, and if they were any good we’d stay. Ummm.. The band sung in german.. definetely not our cup of tea. So we decided to go down, listen to a couple of Grand Avenue songs – and the take the car back to Knust.
Well, it took us about 25 minutes to get to that club – meaning the time was now almost 10pm, and Rooney was suppose to play at 10.45pm. I started to get a bit stressed out – because we had to get the car and actually find our way to Knust with the car. We ended up listening to about 1½ song – and then hurried to the car. On the way up the stairs (Grand Avenue played in this kind of a basement) there was some english guys bloking our way. They moved away fast, but one of them was nice enough to say sorry. Love the accent.. and all those english guys were insanely cute. hehe. To bad that we were in a hurry. I’m thinking that they must have been some guys from a band – everyone else seemed to be german. Unfortunately I have no idea what band they’re in.
Grand Avenue

Of course things wouldn’t go my way. First of all we couldn’t drive the way that we’d walked. Then we couldn’t turn left.. actually we couldn’t turn left twice.. and it was a nightmare. Can you imagine.. you’re sitting in your car, there’s only 25 minutes until Rooney goes on and you can’t find your way? Needless to say I kinda stressed out. We eventually found a way to drive – and we only broke a few rules
Back at Knust (10.30pm) they were setting up for Rooney. It looked like it was running late.. and sure enough. But it wasn’t bad. Only 15 minutes or so.
Rooney came on around 11pm. They started out with

Calling The World
All in Your Head

Are You Afraid?
ISHBAY
Shakin

They also played these songs.. and I’m pretty sure some more.. But unfortunately I don’t recall all of them. All I know is that they did a really good job, played a little more than 1 hour, and I had an awesome time.

Okay, so as I already said, I had a blast and what’s best is that Anette really enjoyed herself too. I think I’ll be able to drag her along next.. haha.
I’m really happy that the show was as great as it was, because I really wanted to see Hard-Fi too, but since they were playing at the same time as Rooney, I couldn’t go.
So after the show we kinda hung around to see if the guys would come out. They never did. But I thought I’d just walk down the street on the other side of the building (the back). Anette stayed near the end of the streat – but I didn’t want to give up (special reason coming later – damn, I felt like a damn stalker/groupie – It wasn’t really like that – see special reason when I write that later). The guys where nowhere to be seen. Anette had started walking towards me – and I started walking back towards her. When we met ½way, we talked for like 2 seconds and agreed to go home. Then when we were just about to go, we both looked up – and guess whom I saw thru one of the windows on the 1st floor? Ned.. and Louie.. and Robert.. and Matt (okay, that really sounded stalkerish.. but it was a complete coincidence that we looked up). They all had there coats and backpacks on. So we decided to stay (all cars where parked where we stood). Sure enough like 2 seconds laterfter Anette said something to me (don’t really know what) – and I saw Ned walking by. I was kinda like.. “Ned”. He stopped and turned around and looked mighty surprised – and I asked him to sign my WDYHGM single (the actual cd). He did.. and a picture for Anette. Then I believe Matt and Louie came out. Followed by Taylor. Or maybe it was Matt and Taylor followed by Louie? I dunno, my memory is screwed up so bad. They all looked terribly tired (it was about 1am). Well, Matt signed the single and asked if we’d enjoyed the show. I answered something like “yeah, it was much better than last time” umm. I had to explain because the last show (in Berlin in May.. when Robert was sick) was so short and all. I also got Louie and Taylors signatures. I told Louie “happy birthday the other day”.. He was a bit surprised (I felt a bit stalkerish again, but hey it’s not my fault that people wrote it on the Rooney board – and it would be rude not to wish him a happy birthday.. haha). I then proceeded to ask if Robert would be out (damn me, of course he would, how stupid can I be. They had to leave that way – but what I meant was if he’d come out anytime soon).
Robert came out.. looking just as, if not more, tired than the rest.. I got his autograph, Anette got his autograph.. and we both got a picture with him (I didn’t want to bother the rest, since I already have a picture with them – and they all looked sooo beat). Then we left the guys alone. Got in the car. Drove home. They played Hard-Fi on the radio – very ironic when I couldn’t go see them.
Did some silly stuff once again.

We got home around 4.15 or 4.30 am (actually 4.29 minus 11 minutes – just looked at a video – and the clock in my car said 4.29 but it’s 11 minutes ahead). I didn’t fall asleep until 8am – and then Anette woke me up at 11am full of energy :O What’s that about?
Okay, so that was my little trip to Hamburg
hehe
